Steve Scott began his martial arts training in Hawaii in 1973, eventually earning his black belt in Tae Kwon Do from Grand Master Duke Lee in 1978. He was awarded his black belt in Hapkido in 1986, and his black belt in Modern Arnis from Grand Master Remy Presas in 1995.

In 2007 he received his sixth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and his fifth degree black belt in Modern Arnis.

Mr. Scott and his wife Linda opened Monroe County Martial Arts (MCMA) in 1991. MCMA was featured as Black Belt magazine's "School of the Month" in October of 1993, and has received the Herald-Time's "Reader's Choice Award" for four years in a row.

In addition to his school Mr. Scott supervises the children's martial arts programs for the Monroe County YMCA and the Banneker Community Center. He also teaches an "Adapted" martial arts program for children and adults with a wide range of disabilities.

When teaching, Mr. Scott blends his unique sense of humor with a progressive philosophy that emphasizes a pragmatic and rational approach to learning the martial arts.
